Alternative Tourism
A new form of tourism is becoming more and more popular these years, alternative tourism. But what is it alternative to, and why do people like it?
You can categorise travellers and holidaymakers into three main categories. The ones who want to get drunk and party, the ones who want to travel the world and see monuments (in the form of archaeological monuments or in the form of a very elegant hotel, it doesn’t matter) and the ones who want to experience the true way of life of the place they are visiting, be part of the local culture even if it’s going to be for a few days, get their hands dirty with tradition.
Greece and especially Crete is one of the greatest alternative destinations in the world. And those visiting Chania, have the opportunity to visit Manousos’ amazing village, get in his traditional house and see how he creates his unique art. You will get your hands dirty as well, and you will get the chance to create your own piece of ceramic art to take home!
